Souther Salazar's current show You Come Too at Jonathan LeVine Gallery without a doubt managed to transport me away to "never never land" which, according to Souther's works of art seems to be a wonderful and fantastical place to be. Souther's work is sweet yet intriguing and unlike Murakami's work, there appears to be (with Souther's work) no insidious underlying under tones and/or hidden messages; what you see is what you get. While sometimes the "unknown" can be a threatening or menacing place to be Souther manages to seduce the viewers into his fantasy world, which happens to be both kid and adult friendly. Souther's fantasy land is one place I'd definitely love to live in. Willy Wonka's got nothing on Souther. See You Come Too at Jonathan LeVine thru May 14th. - Madame J.
