Florence Griswold Museum: American Landscapes; Treasures from the Parrish Museum

While visiting Mystic Connecticut I stopped by the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme to view the museum's latest show, American Landscapes: Treasures from the Parrish Art Museum. The exhibition features 40 landscape works of art from the Parrish Art Museum in Southampton Long Island. Works by famous artists such as: Childe Hassam, Fairfield Porter and John Marin, to name a few. There are a few works that include luminism or "American art style". There is a large mansion that benefactress Florence Griswold had lived in since her childhood. Florence was such a fan of the arts that she would board struggling artists in her home and she was known by some of the artists as "mom". Must see, show ends September 18th. - Madame J.
