David Antonio Cruz turnaroundandiwillshowyousomething
There's absolutely nothing wrong at all with this show nor it's artists and their works; I have absolutely not a bad, negative, mean nor cruel word to say about Summer Show at Praxis International (NYC). This delicate show (what I call ode to Marie Antoinette and her court) is eye candy for a girly girl like myself (not that I can't get down and dirty I am/was a self-proclaimed tom-boy). Pinks, blues, golds, tans, greens; texture no texture, depth no depth. One, two and three-dimensional, imaginative, ironic, interesting, thought provoking and cute. I can spend hours staring at the works and feel a calming effect permeating throughout my body. This shows artists include: Firelei Baez, David Antonio Cruz (my fave), Guerra de la Paz (artists Alain Guerra and Neraldo de la Paz), Nancy Saleme, Nina Surel and Cecile Chong. The movie Marie Antoinette should be playing on a t.v. somewhere in the gallery and some dainty bright pastries and creamy profiteroles should be offered to accentuate the experience. See Summer Show (aka Ode to Marie Antoinette and Her Court) before September 10th. - Madame J.
