Stefanie Gutheil's second show at Mike Weiss Gallery titled Dreckige Katze currently on view til October 8th is a surrealist marvel; Dreckige Katze literal translation is "dirty, raunchy cat". Stefanie's artwork is grotesque while still engaging; there is so much subject matter that her works keep my mind and eyes busy for hours.There is so much psychological drama in her works that it can induce thought provoking scenarios and discussions in ones mind; Stefanie's work has so much imagery and craziness who can not love her work. While most times when I go to visit a show in general I will walk into a gallery and in a matter of about four minutes I walk out because some contemporary works of art can be plain, bland or "not much to it" Stefanie's work kept me at the gallery for about twenty minutes. I felt the need to study each work. This show ends October 8th which means there's not a lot of time left but a week should give one enough "heads up" to go and see "Dirty Cat". - Madame J.
