Lola Montes Schnabel: Love Before Intimacy

Love Before Intimacy
Love Before Intimacy
Lola Montes Schnabel "Come on everybody, all together now" "SHE CAN DO IT!"

I had decided that after I got out of work I'd check out some Love Before Intimacy, every "good girl"  "needs a good roll in ze hay". Art releases stress, induces calmness and gets the endorphins going so I figured I'd go stargazing at The Hole, and hopefully I would run into some famous actor, designer or artist. I got to the art opening early, around 6:15pm, ("yes I know that's way too early but I live all the way up in the Bronx") and was going to ride the train all by my lonesome ("oh the horror, just kidding"). I walked into the gallery and realized there were two other shows opening the same night as Lola; but they definitely were not as interesting as hers. I saw statuesque Lola inside of the gallery in her fur trimmed brocade jacket, black tights, black shorts and fur trimmed ankle booties. She is beautiful but a bit stand-offish; she was serving "warm wine" the smell was a bit noxious. I looked around and only recognized an old school mate of mines (who's now "an artist"), she (Natalie) wasn't all that friendly in school and I decided not to approach her. I gotta be truthful though about this show and say I liked Lola's work but felt there was something "lacking" or "missing" in the works of art whether, it be more experience, experimentation or enlightenment on her part. I'd like to see her find a "niche" and latch on to it for "dear life"! I'd eventually like to, at first glance, look at her work and say right off the bat "that's Lola S's work". She has talent but more research, effort, time and soul searching needs to be explored; "she can do it" If daddy can do it so can Lola!. Love Before Intimacy, show closes February 4th, 2012. - Madame J.
